Bartender & Barista is written by a team of hospitality professionals with over 20 years experience. Now, you can benefit from a wealth of hands-on knowledge and get the inside track on working within this industry.
Our Bartender & Barista team worked in collaboration with Matt Kimmel and Harry Partridge, a dynamic and progressive duo who specialise in the hospitality industry.
Matt Kimmel has worked in the food service industry for all of his life, starting as a bus boy when he was 15, and working his way through pretty much every front of the house position there is. He loves to frequent new and unique bars and restaurants around New England (and maybe one day around the country or even the world), following new trends and seeing how bartenders and baristas are working to revolutionize their field. Customers can get a drink anywhere, but Matt enjoys finding the bartenders and baristas who really make a difference because they put care into entertaining and offering new experiences to their customers. Matt is currently a freelance writer and English teacher from Brookfield, CT, where he lives with his beautiful wife Catherine. He grew up in Danbury, CT, until he went to college at Roger Williams University in Bristol, RI. Matt loves to help people, but he also loves to write and travel. As an English teacher, Matt prides himself in his ability to help his students understand new material. He brings that love into everything he does, including his writing, and cherishes the opportunity to use his writing to help people learn something new and better themselves.
Harry Partridge studied at the University of Hertfordshire before embarking on a career in the hospitality industry, gaining experience in a variety of roles, including both bar and kitchen management. After more than six years making drinks and creating exciting dishes for the general public of Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire, Harry felt that it was a good time to try a new challenge, and decided to become a professional wordsmith. Harry is currently a freelance writer who has been creating content for a wide variety of clients since 2012, specialising in food and drink writing, travel writing and copywriting. In his spare time, Harry is a keen football fan, and enjoys watching and writing about the game. He also continues to cook and, despite leaving a career in the food and beverage industry, he can often be found in the kitchen whipping up some tasty treats. Harry also enjoys travelling and learning new languages and is currently trying to learn Polish, which is often regarded as one of the world’s most difficult languages to master – a fact that certainly hasn’t escaped Harry’s notice.
